    Biography

    Jason is one of Canberra’s most outstanding commercial lawyers with an impressive list of local, national and international clients. He commenced his legal career in 2004 and has since gained extensive experience in all aspects of commercial law, most notably working for eight years at a national law firm.

    In 2014, Jason co-founded Lexmerca Lawyers, where he is passionate about delivering the best commercial outcomes for his clients. He has experience in providing outstanding legal advice to businesses, property developers, builders, franchisors, financial institutions, and commercial landlords and tenants. Jason’s particular areas of expertise include banking and finance; mergers and acquisitions; large-scale residential and commercial property transactions; corporate structuring involving property syndicates; estate planning; disposal and acquisition of business transactions; asset licensing; commercial, industrial and retail leasing; and franchising.

    Jason also has experience in navigating clients’ legislative rights, duties and obligations regarding cyber security: an area of increasing relevance in our data-driven world. In addition to expertise in privacy law and data protection, Jason is well versed in providing advice on employers’ data breach notification obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

    In 2009, Jason assisted Mr Charles Rowland with writing the 7th Edition of Hutley’s Australian Wills Precedents, a leading practitioner’s text in the field of Estate Planning.

    Jason has previously served an appointed member of the Australian Capital Territory Law Society Business and Commercial Law Committee, as well as the Commercial Leasing Committee.
